CERT.LV launches two new projects to strengthen cybersecurity

On January 1, 2026 CERT.LV launched two important cybersecurity projects. The projects are aimed at strengthening cooperation and digital security capacity both nationally and in the broader Nordic-Baltic region. Both projects are funded from the European Union's Digital Europe programme, and both strive to combine knowledge, technology, and experience to identify threats more effectively, respond to incidents, and promote international cooperation.

The first project is the Nordic-Baltic Cyber Consortium (NBCC), bringing together project partners from: Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. Led by Danish Resilience Agency (https://samsik.dk/) as the coordinator, the project duration is 48 months. Project will aim to strengthen cooperation between regional cybersecurity authorities, set up a data-sharing platform, and procure and share access to commercial cyber threat intelligence solutions. The NBCC will also serve as a vehicle for developing new technologies, including artificial intelligence–based solutions, and will promote collaboration among public, private, and research institutions in the region.

The second project is aimed at strengthening the capabilities of CERT.LV as the National Cyber Security Operations Center (CERT.LV-SOC-LV) contributing to improving Latvia's cybersecurity capacity. This 36-month project will maintain and strengthen the Security Operations Center's (SOC) operations, improve employee capacity and professional skills, promote the exchange of experience at national and international levels, as well as continually sustain and improve information and communication activities. This project will enable more effective management of cybersecurity incidents and strengthen CERT.LV's capabilities.

By launching these two projects, we are taking a significant step forward in further development of Latvia's digital security. The coming years will be a period of intensive, focused work. By combining our strengths, knowledge, and resources, we will promote readiness to respond to cyber threats, strengthen security management, and reinforce the resilience of Latvia's cyberspace. At the same time, we will promote close cooperation with partners nationally and in the region, emphasizes Baiba Kaškina, CERT.LV Manager.

Both projects plan to implement joint procurement with the European Cyber Security Centre (ECCC). The NBCC project is set to procure cyber threat intelligence solutions and the CERT.LV-SOC-LV project is set to procure high-performance artificial intelligence computing servers. These projects complement CERT.LV's core activities, focusing on regional coordination, innovation, and further development of CERT.LV's activities and team capacity. This combination ensures long-term investment in regional security and development of national capabilities.
